Things I've found that help on GoDaddy's shared hosting:

1. WP-Super-Cache. The hosting isn't as bad at static files.

Adding keyword in the search gives us blogs that are related to our niche. But why “says” in the search? It ensures that only blogs that have published comments how up in the search result.

If you have seen a blog with KeywordLuv active, you will realise that it has a small checkbox below the comment box to enable the “do-follow” backlinks. You also find the following description on most of these blogs: “This site uses KeywordLuv. EnterYourName@YourKeywords in the Name field to take advantage.”

This means most do-follow WordPress blogs will have these words: YourName@YourKeywords.

There has been many software's and plug-in that actually do this automatically on blogs and websites to make th task of putting ads between the content much easier. Many bloggers and websites owners will have a hard time now having to change a lot of these ads that have been already implemented.

The updated policy document says:

AdSense code may not be altered, nor may the standard behavior, targeting or delivery of ads be manipulated in any way that is not explicitly permitted by Google. This includes but is not limited to the following: clicking Google ads may not result in a new browser window being launched, nor may Google ads be placed in an IFRAME.

Google has discouraged the use of IFRAMEs for serving AdSense ads but publishers were allowed to use them. For instance, a section of the AdSense support site still says:

Our targeting technology is not optimised to serve ads within a separate IFRAME. If you placed the AdSense code in a separate IFRAME, your site may display less targeted ads or PSAs. For better results, please implement our ad code directly into the source of your web page. Once you make these changes, it may take up to 48 hours or more before relevant ads appear.

There are AdSense publishers who use the IFRAME option to embed Google Ads in the web pages, for various reasons, but with the new policy update, that implementation now clearly violates AdSense policies.

It was worth a shot !! in fact i wasn't even trying to get to no1 on google search for the term “wp turbo” or “wordpress turbo” or just wordpress plugin, But yes google has no rankled my blog No 1 for this search term.

It took me only a week to get to no 1 for this term Wp turbo. I did a search a week ago and saw all these websites and blogs listed for wp turbo and then just did my post and waited to see how it goes.

Off course in the meanwhile also did a bit of promo for it on other websites, turns out i checked today ( a week later and i am No 1 on Google). As you can see in the pic above as of today i am no1 for this search followed by blackhatworld.com and wpturbo review.com at no 2 and no 3. Incidentally i am also ranked no 1 for “wp turbo affiliate” which was not my intention.

From a search engine crawler’s perspective there are two broad types of website architecture:

Static (or flat) pages, which can be edited individually.
Dynamic pages, which are rendered on the fly from templates and a content database.

No matter how fast a web server can render a dynamic page to a spider, it can present a static page a little faster, since it has already been assembled. A common trick is to make a dynamic page look like a static page. Although this does not render the page any faster, the URL is shorter and this enables more pages to be crawled.

Robots Meta Tag

The <HEAD> portion of a page should contain all Meta tags. If you want to try and control the behaviour of a spider, you can do it at a page level. There is no need to tell a spider to Index and Follow, as this is its default behaviour. It wastes bytes, so remove it from your code if you have it.
Examples:

Cross linking refers to the process of linking between two sites. Whether or not they are owned by the same person, cross linking is the process on which the internet is built. It allows users to reference sites with content similar to that which they are already viewing, and may be of further interest to them.

You have so many blogs and websites .. but not really reaping the benefit of cross linking to your blogs .. because there are all on the same IP as they are shared hosting.

There is a way to beat this , the easy way is to host all your blogs on different hosting partners which could also cost you some extra cash , but would be worth the effort.

Problem with using traditional shared hosting is
you won't receive any SEO benefits from it because all of your
sites share THE SAME IP address.

The only way to get that ever elusive "link juice" is to have your
sites on different IPs with multiple C Class hosting or find yourself a multiple IP hosting provider

There are some hosting providers which provide the typical hosting bells and whistles that traditional shared hosts provide along with the ability to get IP packages as small as 25 to as large as 500 IPs.

Don't create a "link ring". A link ring is when several sites are cross linking to each other, with no other sites linked into the ring they create. Search engines will penalize this kind of cross linking immediately.

Scraping – Create mirrors for popular sites. Offer them to the respective webmasters. Most will be glad to pay less.

Suddenly my web earnings have declined . im still getting more hits by the day at my websites but the earnings seem to be coming down. suddenly i am glad that bing and yahoo are gaining momentum and atleast there wont be a absolute monoply whereby google can dictate and reduce publishers earnings.

Digital Inspiration is reporting that Google is now paying out some 72% of AdSense revenues to publishers (who serve the ads to their users), down from some 75% earlier in the year. That represents a 4% decrease in relative payouts to AdSense publishers.
While the percentage my be small, it represents nearly eighty million dollars in decreased payouts to the publishers that take part in AdSense. Once you realize the dollar amount, the trend and magnitude become worrying.

One of the foundational elements of any Search Engine Optimisation campaign is critical importance to understand a number of factors in order to lay the groundwork for success and to avoid optimising for the wrong keywords.

Keyword Phrases vs Generic Keywords

Search engine users type in keyword phrases in order to return results that will hopefully satisfy the intent of their query. It is important to differentiate between a keyword phrase and a generic keyword. Examples of generic keywords include singular words like “accountant”, “hotels” or “marketing”.

Keyword Search Volume

How often is the keyword being searched? There are various free and paid tools available for approximating keyword volume, such as Wordtracker, Wordze and the Google Adwords Keyword Tool. A further point to note is the seasonality and/or spikiness (unusual spike in volume due to the term becoming a hot topic) of a given keyword which will skew the reported number of searches.

Keyword Competitiveness

A keyword phrase with a higher level of competition will be more difficult to rank for. How many other webpages are competing for the keyword phrase you want to optimise for?

Commercial Intent of Keywords

Consumers will use different language depending on where they are in the buying cycle. Information seekers tend to use broader terms before narrowing their search to more specific keywords as they move closer to making a purchase.

Also, two searchers with different needs may use the same keyword phrase to find what they’re after. Generally, the shorter the keyword phrase, the broader the intent and the greater the potential for ambiguity. Traffic from longer, more specific keyword phrases (commonly referred to as “long tail keywords”) tend to convert better than generic keywords because the visitor has qualified themselves.

Relevance of Keywords

Just because a keyword has a relatively high volume, low competitiveness and high commercial intent doesn’t mean it has anything to do with the goods and services you sell.

Striking a Balance

Keyword research, like many aspects of SEO, is a balancing act which requires the researcher to go beyond merely looking at the metrics. In tandem with cold hard numerical analysis, sucessful keyword selection requires an understanding of pyschology, marketing, language patterns and general knowledge in order to discover the right keywords for your business.

She then told me that if I didn't get it to this kind of level I'd have to get a 'real job'.

Up until this point I'd been talking about how blogging could one day provide us with a full time income. I'd been showing her the growth of the earnings from the blogs so far and projecting forward to what they might be in the future if things kept going.

I'd been on about it for months and things were going OK - the earnings graphs I kept showing her were trending up - I could see the possibility of one day being a full time blogger.

But I'd been talking a lot…. dreaming a lot…. creating a lot of pretty graphs…. and not really DOING a lot.

That moment changed everything.

How to become a professional blogger

So how did i do It ?

started putting serious time aside for blogging
became more focused upon my core tasks of creating content
wasted less time on distractions
became more strategic in my thinking and set myself goals to work towards
began to look for new income streams - beyond AdSense
started hustling for advertisers - ringing up businesses in my niche and pitching my blog to them
began to seek out guest writing opportunities on other blogs and even in main stream media
started setting myself deadlines for posting a certain number of posts a day and developed an editorial calendar

Suddenly twitter is all over the place right in our faces , on our mobiles and now all over the search engines ( that too all of them … Bing Yahoo and Google). Every one is “twitting like mad” how do we sift from the gold from the chaff.

And they'll probably need to, because what you often see happening is spammers who jump in on a trending topic and post tweets to their porn, pills and casino sites to try and get some traffic from the ‘crowd'.

It could lead to some undesirable results showing up in the search engine Twitter feeds!

The recently announced deal between Twitter, Google and Bing could have enormous implications for your online sales.

While there's not a huge amount of information coming from Google about how it intends to integrate Twitter results into its search, Bing has led the way with a beta site which you can see here.

Bing does quite a job of returning Twitter results. They group the results into the ‘latest tweets' about a topic, as well as the pages which have been linked to from tweets.

Google is taking a far more cautious approach, as this blog post from Marissa Mayer explains it will be a few months before we see anything on Google.

Seo testing with zipper down

Let’s assume for a minute your at a ball game or party and your friend comes back from the bathroom, and you notice their zipper is down.

Because they are your friend you want to help them out, so in a normal voice you point at their crotch and say “excuse me but your zipper is down” … kudo’s to you for being a good friend right?

Well not really, because while your intentions may have been knoble, your execution had the opposite effect, as you just embarrassed your friend unnecessarily in public.

A much better course of action would have been leaning in and whispering in their ear that they need to check their zipper, allowing them to correct the situation without alerting everyone around you. Got it … now that I’ve turned into Miss Manners what does that have to do with SEO …

How do you know a test from a wordpress hack … you don’t, but if you see something odd, you don’t twitter about it publicly, write about it on your blog, or worst of all link to it (no followed or not) from anywhere, it’s the same as pointing at my crotch and telling me my zipper is down.

Really I’m pretty easy to get a hold of, there’s a contact form here and that phone icon in the sidebar will send a copy of your transcribed voicemail to me by email and SMS, so I’m not going to miss anything.

You can ask in a roundabout way “you know it’s that guy in that place with the thing …” just don’t link to it ok, cause even though you are trying to help you just invalidated my experiment.

Lastly and only somewhat related, this blog is not a shining example of SEO Best practices, in reality it’s much closer to Dr. Frankenstein’s castle, with odd parts stitched together in ways they where never intended to be.

Use Facebook Traffic to Drive traffic

WebProNews recently covered a study from Chitika, which found that Facebook was the most valuable social media tool for driving repeat readers to content sites. The study was based on 33 million unique users across Chitika's publisher network in September.

It compared the number of visitors coming from major traffic sources Digg, Facebook, Google, Yahoo, Bing, and Twitter, to the number of times those visitors came back to the referred site. Visitors that went to a site four or more times in one week were considered loyal users. By a wide margin, Facebook led the pack in providing loyal traffic.20% of all visitors from Facebook visited the site four or more times per week.

"We've received the most clients from Facebook than any other social media website," a reader commented on the article. "Although we've received slightly more visitors from Digg and Stumbleupon, the viewers have not converted into customers the same way they had through Facebook."

But not all traffic has to come from search, although Facebook exposure can certainly contribute to that as well, if nothing else, than simply through promotion leading to links.
When a Facebook user frequently checks for status updates, he/she is likely to see new posts made from Facebook Pages he/she is subscribed to. This means creating a Facebook page can have a great effect on page owners. Making readers aware of the page is key as well. Luckily Facebook has a widget called the Fan box, that you can put on your site, which can lead new visitors directly to your Facebook page.
Facebook has also just updated another important widget - the share button. Now it will provide a live count of shares, as well as analytical information. You can find out how people are sharing and engaging with your content, and gain further insight into how your stuff is doing with the Facebook community (and adjust your strategy accordingly).

Traffic is a common goal, but it is not the only one. Going back to the topic at the beginning of this article, brand loyalty is a big one.

A common theme among the case studies provided by Stuzo is that they all present clear objectives for what they want to accomplish with Facebook. For example, Budweiser's were:
1. Create brand awareness through a strong fan base and social channel opt-ins
2. Incentivize users to engage with the brand on a regular basis

I was trying to think of a good analogy to explain what SEO is like and I came up with horse racing because I see many similarities.

For the purposes of this analogy:

Trainers = SEO consultants

Horse = your Website

Jockey = your Webmaster and Content writers

Racecourse = the Internet

Search Engines = Official Handicappers

No one can guarantee a #1 ranking on Google – Google is so worried about people promising this that they’ve added a page about SEO to their website to make people aware of SEO’s that claim to guarantee rankings

This is just like a horse race because a Trainer (SEO) can help your Horse (website) become faster and more fit but they can’t guarantee the Horse (website) will win on the Racecourse (Internet) because they can’t control how much extra weight the Official Handicappers (Search Engines) will make the horse (website) carry

It’s not possible to guarantee top search engine rankings without doing something unethical just like a horse race where you can’t guarantee winning without bribing officials or giving your horse drugs

The program – called “Your Journal – Your Money” – lets LiveJournal users insert ads into their blog and keep 100 percent of the earnings, after Google takes their cut.
However, users will need to be paid LiveJournal members in order to participate ($19.95 per year), meaning they’ll need to at least generate enough traffic and ad clicks to pay their membership fee before they turn a profit.

The site, which was launched all the way back in 1999 and has been through multiple owners in recent years, is now allowing its users to make money through Google AdSense.

LiveJournal is a bit late to the punch on the feature – Blogger and TypePad both already allow users to make money for example. Nonetheless, the prospect of being able to make up the cost of a premium account with some ads may lure a few more of LiveJournal’s millions of members to upgrade.

Google and meta keywords confirmation

Last week, Google confirmed a long suspected yet still hotly debated issue - that it doesn’t give ranking preference to pages that abide by W3C standards.

The newest revelation is, according to Google software engineer Matt Cutts, Google doesn’t consider the keywords meta tag when ranking pages *at all*.

As Matt says, their ignoring of the keywords tag doesn’t mean they ignore all meta tags. He makes special mention of the description tag in helping Google to evaluate the page. It’s been my experience that the description meta tag does play quite an important role.

Building on that, a *really* important tip regarding the use of the description meta tag is to either use unique descriptions on each page, or none at all. I’ve seen a lot of sites have their rankings impeded by using exactly the same description meta tag throughout their sites. This is commonly seen when using certain CMS’s (Content Management Systems) that offer a default meta tag option.

Biggest Consistent SEO MYTHS

I don’t know about top one, but top 3 (for the completely uninitiated) are:

1. Meta Keywords are still useful (they’re definitely not).

2. Keyword Density is a factor in rankings (it’s definitely not).

3. Submitting your site to search engines is a critical part of SEO. It hasn’t been since the 1990’s, but like meta keywords, this one just won’t die.

For those who are generally smart about SEO, the ones I find most persistent are:

Click-through rate is a major part of search engine rankings. The engines have said publicly that CTR is a very noisy and un-useful signal, and not something they’d rely on.
2. The search engines penalize you if you do active/obvious SEO (they don’t). The engines themselves promote SEO best practices, and Google’s gone as far as to endorse and promote SEO events, a guide and an SEO toolset.
3. Participating in PPC campaigns (and spending more) will help you rank better in the engines (it doesn’t). The engines have very real Chinese walls between their business divisions and never let paid campaign spending affect organic rankings directly.
