Optimising for mobile and smartphones

Wondering why  all those emails( that look like spam)  you are getting looks so funny. There is so much space .but  the email is drafted in such a way that it is a slim rectangle going downwards. WHy?

Now people read their emails on phones so spammers .(.opps sorry marketers )have designed  their emails to suite smartphones  to make it more readable .

By the way i like reading some emails from traffic Travis ..though sometimes it can become annoying
